What is your company’s elevator pitch?

Fanning Communications is a full service marketing firm that develops custom strategies to help individuals and businesses achieve their full potentials.

What inspired you to start your business?

One day I found myself in business. I attribute this occurrence to a natural and nurtured ability I was given to alter group weltanschauung through wordcraft. That and the fact that other people find such an ability to be of considerable value.

Who are your clients, give an example of how you served that person or business.

Fanning Communications

Our clients include individuals, small startups and Fortune 100 corporations. We undertake full marketing campaigns for businesses and we prepare correspondence for CEO’s and public officials. We work in print, digital, audio and visual communications.

Once we undertook a “Lazarus project” that saved a damaged politician from political ruin by crafting a single written response to counter hundreds of vicious attacks by anonymous bloggers.

We are especially focused upon social media management and digital communications. We successfully undertook creation of a training program for an international organization that included writing a textbook and creating a series of online interactive training programs. We turnkey the publication of monthly magazines and newspapers for organizations and government groups.

Our clients and projects are many and varied and our success has been, and continues to be, built upon the referrals of our clients.

What’s your biggest business challenge?

Managing growth through the proper application of technology and selection of the best talent available to be a part of our team.

Mentor name, and how they have helped you in your business?

Jack Donohue is my SCORE mentor. Our firm was recently designated as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business and Jack is helping us to understand the requirements of federal contracting.

What advice would you give other entrepreneurs?

  • Be prepared to put your business before anything and anyone else.
  • Be flexible and willing to change direction to take advantage of opportunities that may come your way.
  • Never forget that your employees are the engine of your enterprise and require constant maintenance, repair and respect.
  • Always keep in mind that abilities that come naturally to you are gifts, and like all gifts, they can be ignored, lost or stolen.
