STEVEN R. CULVER (HARNEW AND EDGEBROOK PUBLISHING, LLC)
Steven Culver has been a student of military history. Of particular interest to him is the seventeenth century Thirty Years War in Europe.

Combining that interest with his innate writing skills, Steven conceived of writing a series of swashbuckler novels emanating from that historical period.

Although talented as a writer, Steven realized that he had no idea how to turn his writing into a successful business. He remembered hearing of SCORE and decided to seek its help. He was counseled by SCORE counselors Norm Letofsky, Phil Hartung and Tom Garrison, who advised him on how to initiate and develop his venture. Steven described their efforts as follows: “I found that I could construct a solid plot line, but I was completely at sea when I tried to imagine how I might turn my writing into the foundation of an actual business. Fortunately, I found SCORE and their team of knowledgeable volunteers. I got suggestions about how to avoid liability problems with the names of my characters, advice on how to form an LLC, and invaluable insights into how my writing endeavor looked from a business perspective. Most importantly, I gained the confidence that what I was doing really could be a business if I only put in the effort.”

Steven has already self-published his first novel in his series which he calls “Howell Davidson” adventures, which is now available on Amazon.com as a paperback and for download at www.smashwords.com. Steven is currently working on the sequel in his series. He formed an LLC and is now operating under the business name of Harnew and Edgebrook Publishing, Inc.
