Urban Source Dramatically Increases Sales
Two women, Jennifer Rossignuolo and Rose Tejeda-Navarre, had started a business, called “Urban Source”,

which sold unusual textiles, wallpapers, window treatments and related products to the public—items which would normally only be available to the trade. They operated through their showroom, where they displayed samples of their merchandise, provided design consultations and designed projects ranging from single rooms to entire homes. They carried no inventory.

Despite the originality of their concept, Jennifer and Rose needed help in developing their business and turned to SCORE. Counselors Elliot Shear and Larry Lakin not only met with them but visited their showroom to observe exactly how they were conducting their business. Elliot and Larry’s observations led them to help the women better utilize their showroom facility by focusing on the core products which produced the greatest volume of sales and also helped them recognize the design products which were essential to their growth.

In large part due to Elliot and Larry’s efforts, Urban Source was able to dramatically and steadily increase its sales. The best tribute to those efforts came from Jennifer and Rose themselves:

“Our SCORE counselors helped us to analyze our sales and better understand the types of projects we would be focusing on. They were a great sounding board. They also helped us conceptualize our ad for Chicago Home. Through gaining a better understanding of our sales, we were able to be more focused in our offerings and product range. Through eliminating things that didn’t sell, we were able to double the space we had dedicated to textiles and wallpapers, which results in even more sales.”
